If 1 spouse takes sum of money the other the home, signs a contract, does the name have to come off the loan?

Little Blossom asked:

Our names are both on the loan. He is willing to allow me to buy him out. But I cannot refinance a new loan and be able to afford to buy him out. If we have a notarized contract that states he releases any interest on the home with the address and loan number, in exchage for the lump sum and some of the articles in the house will it be legal as a settlement?
We make an agreement, I keep the loan we have, give him a lump sum to release his repsonibility on the loan and I continue to pay the loan I have.instead of refinancing a new one just to get his name off the mortgage. If we have a contract that is notarized he releases responsiblity of our current loan and I take over payments, is this going to be a legal document is the question?

Has anyone been contacted by McKelvey Law Offices?

Lucas H asked:

I am trying to clean up my credit to purchase a home and one of my old credit cards has been sold to another collection agency. Going through a chain of phone calls we finally find that the debt now lies with the McKelvey Law Offices. She does verify that it is an old Providian card that I did have and under the advice of my loan advisor we agree to settle. I set up a payment for the amount and hang up. I then check online and see that apparentally this place is in trouble for trying to use illegal practices to sue for the amount owed. My MAIN concern is to have this debt removed from my credit history. I am not concerned with the practices they employ to retain payment for debt but just that it will eventually show as satisfied. Does anyone know if this will happen or have similiar experiences? I have searched online and only found 2 sites discussing their integrity and gives advice but they look to be from a competing lawyer. Thanks in advance for any assistance!!

Credit Card Settlement Question

ajjp21@sbcglobal.net asked:

My husband has about $8,000 in CC debt with Washington Mutual. The account has been turned over to collections. He got his first letter from them about two weeks ago. My husband wants to negotiate a settlement. We are refinancing our home and expect to get about $4,000 to offer on the settlement. My husband was recently diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease and has had to quit his job, making outrageous credit card payments almost impossible. His credit is shot because he is chronically ill according to our credit union who recently approved a small personal loan for us. We do not plan on buying a new home or car or any other major purchase anytime soon. We have had good credit up until now. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Is it hard for a single woman to get a home loan?

Jessica J asked:

I am a first time home buyer and am in the process of doing research to ge a home loan. The online mortgage calculators I can find say rates are based on married, two dependent households. Because I have no dependents and all of my income would go toward my own expenses does that make me eligible for more than a married household that brings in equal income to what I earn?

Sell my structured settlement? Is it worth it?

Posted by admin | Other - Business Finance | Tuesday 16 June 2009 12:30 pm
Corey asked:

I’m up to my neck in student loans ($70k) and have a structured settlement for the next twenty years. I have a guy scouting things out for me that says a company will buy it for $280k when it’s total value - over the twenty years - is $620k. He also claims that if the money is put in the right places, it can accumulate more than that in twenty years as well as pay my loans off immediately. Any advice?

When you are co-owners of real estate property and ?

Daisymae asked:

and you decided to pay your mortgage online, will the mortgage company deposit your escrow refund directly into your account or do they have to send a check because two people own the property? Co-owners also have joint checking account.
