I have about 7years of perfect payment history but i decided to let my home go so with that credit hit I think it would be best just to let my credit go completely. What are the implications of not paying my credit card if I don’t pay at all? What about if I wanted to settle for 5-6k?

okay so i basically know everything about them but i have a few questions?

1. if i miss a payment what happens do i just get charged double the next month or something ??

2. how much should i spend with the card if i have a 300 dollar limit i was told to not use more then 70 percent of the cash on the card cause it looks bad or something is that true

3. um say i pay my bills on time every month for 6 months and the bank tells me if i want i can get my money back, will i still have my good credit score even though the bank let me get rid of my card ?

4. if after 6 months of paying my bill on time and i get my money back cause after 6 months u can choose to stop or not if u have a good payment history can i go anywhere and just apply for a real credit card wont my credit be good enough to get one from when i had the secured card

Looking to re-establish credit w/secured cards and loans.advice and ideas needed please?

Long story short, I was pretty much forced to file for bankruptcy back in 2005, and I am currently slowly paying down 2 new credit cards (my score has jumped 32 points up to 532 in the last few months - the Equifax simulation Im using puts me around 625 in 10 months if I continue paying the way I am).

My next step is getting a secured credit card, and paying it off over the next 8-10 months to jump my score a little more.

I was also thinking of getting a loan from a bank and paying that off slowly as well.

Any recommendations on what card carriers/banks to go trough?

PS: If you have any other ideas on how to re-establish credit, throw ‘em on here!

I’d like to get a credit card but I keep getting turned down. It’s because I don’t have a credit score yet (I’m just starting out. I’d like to be very clear, I do not want a secured credit card. I want an unsecured one. If I can’t get accepted for one, I’ll just apply for a store one and build my credit that way, but does anyone know of a credit card that will accept someone with no credit at all?

Thanks!

Am I screwed if I am missing both drivers license and passport and need to travel by air?

Rob asked:

By some fluke, both my passport and license expires at about the same time.
I applied for passport renewal six weeks ago, anticipating this. But they are busy, so it looks like it wont be ready in time for my trip.
I have also renewed my license, but until my new photo license arrives via mail in 3 weeks, they have given me a temp. license (no photo)
The problem:
To renew any of this ID, I had to surrender the old ID, leaving me with no govt issued photo ID.
I will be flying domestically in 2 weeks (NYC to Santa Ana, CA).
I have an offical birth certificate, the temp. license (no photo), an employee ID (from the United Nations catering dept, but it is an ID from the UN), SS card, and umpteen credit cards, ATM cards, health insurance cards.
Will they really deny me boarding, or simply subject me to additional screening?
Passport people wont expidite because I am travelling domestically.
Please, no speculation, “you should haves…”, conventional wisdom or links…just an answer!

Would our bank let us do this? (to get out of payday loan cycle)?

Posted by admin | Personal Finance | Saturday 19 March 2011 12:12 am
Beckie asked:

We owe 2 different paycheck loan places about $1500 total. (both local stores). We took some bad advice from the paycheck advance clerk - she told us to close our bank account and than said the main office would work out payments with us that way. Well, after the fact - we’re learning that these “payments” would actually be them garnishing our wages.

We’re going back to our bank this morning, and going to ask them if they will re-open our checking account and allow the payday loan checks to go thru (we have overdraft protection, er.. had) and than freeze our account and pay the bank $300-$400 a week until its all paid off.

Do banks typically let people do this? Is there a name for it, so when we talk to them we can be understood better? A friend said it sounds like a “fresh start loan” but I just want to make sure.

Sorry if this is a dumb question - but we’re planning a wedding thats 1 month away, my fiance was injured in an accident so the medical bills keep piling up and we’re getting frantic.

Helpful advice is appreciated <3 thank you.
